SLACK ADJUSTER
FIRST: Make sure there is room for the ASA to operate!
The
Unhanded
design slack is simply one in which the pawl assembly has been moved to the “edge” of the slack.
The
Unhanded
design purpose is to eliminate having to stock pairs of slacks. In some cases, this pawl location
won’t be the best choice for clearance with other components in the axle area or for service accessibility to the ASA.
When this occurs, use a Handed design.
The
Handed
design locates the pawl on the main body of the ASA. These ASA’s are available as Type One and Type
Two pawl mountings to fit each side of the axle and aid in accessibility in service and clearance with other axle com-
ponents
.
